FAQs
Q. Will it be painful?
A. No. The touch is light and the aim is to take the body to a place of comfort so that it can release tension.
Q. Do I have to undress?
A. I can work through clothes if you're shy but the treatment is more accurate if I can see the spine and posture.Other than the area on which I am working you will be covered with a towel or blanket.
Q. Can I talk to you first?
A. A free 15min chat is available if required.
Q. How many treatments will I need?
A. I usually recommend a minimum of 3 sessions. At which stage we can re-evaluate what else is necessary. Most clients find they are considerably improved even after the first time, in some cases even completely recovered. A regular “MOT” every 2 or 3 months has definite health benefits.
Q. Are my details confidential.
A. Absolutely.
Q. How will I feel after a treatment?
A. People generally feel they've had a good 7 hours sleep! There is a sense of lightness even tiredness. If you feel sleepy it is good to go home and lie on the bed to sleep. Your body can get on with the process without diverting energy to walking, digesting etc and you will wake refreshed when it's done. Sometimes there can be aching for a short while or even up to 48hours. This is where the muscles have relaxed and then discharged their toxins into the system. The quickest way to deal with this is to drink plenty of water. Occasionally there will be a temporary reoccurrence of old symptoms as the body unwinds. Also a good sign.
Q. What can I expect from my first appointment?
A. Both clinics have private and pleasant treatment rooms where we can sit and take a full confidential history. This enables me to make an assessment of your needs. What is important to you now and how to proceed later. This is always based on individual needs because everyone is different and can react differently to the treatments.
I always do a Spinal Touch treatment on new clients to start because:-
• It helps the person understand and feel the difference.
• It develops an innate trust in that body that it will be painless.
• Allows a clear indication of improvement.
Following this you will be asked to undress to underwear. (I can work through clothes if you're shy but it is obviously more accurate without). An assessment by standing on the footboard against a plumbline will be taken. This takes note of the distortion in the posture caused by stress and strain leading to imbalance of the muscles. As most people remain unaware of this imbalance it is useful to accentuate it slightly so the body is reminded that maybe this isn't such a good idea!.... By doing this both before and after a treatment the improvement can be clearly seen and most people feel the difference.
Final balancing is done at head and feet.
